The Vice President of the Republic of Zambia Attended the Ground-breaking Ceremony for Kansanjiku Mini-hydro Project
On 21st November, 2016, Kansanjiku Mini Hydropower Project, under EPC contract by HNAC, had its Ground-breaking ceremony for the main construction officially launched. Ms. Inonge Wina, the Vice President of the Republic of Zambia, delivered the remarks and cut the ribbon. In the ceremony, more than 50 officials were present, including Mr. David Mabumba, the Minister of Energy, Mr. Richard Kapita, the Provincial Minister, Mr. Newton Samakayi, the Area Member of Parliament, Prof. Jorry Mwenechanya, REA Board Chairperson, Mr. Sailunga, the Tribe Chief of the project area, etc.
The Vice President said that the small hydropower was a kind of renewable energy which had lots of advantages and adapts to the development of Zambia power energy. Therefore, the government will greatly promote its development and enhance the living standard in rural area. She also expressed thanks to the works of HNAC and hope it can complete the project with high quality and in due time.
Mr. Liu Liguo, the General Manager of International Engineering Dept. of HNAC, together with the project team, was invited to and present in the ceremony.
