What Is Electrical Switchgear?
Switchgear, also called switchboard, switch device, switch cabinet, it is the set of distribution equipment which assembles the primary electrical equipment and secondary electrical equipment, it’s aim to control, protect and isolate electrical equipment.
Types of switchgear based on voltage class:
Low voltage switchgear : less than 1kV AC; stationary switchgear and drawout switchgear
Medium voltage switchgear : 1kV AC -75kV AC
High voltage switchgear : above 75kV AC
Model of Switchgear:
Low voltage switchgear: PGL、GGD、GCK、GBD、MNS etc
Medium and high voltage switchgear: GG-1A、XGN15、KYN48 etc
Components of Switchgear:
Power conducting components: the purpose is to conduct the electrical power, including equipments like switches, circuit breakers, fuses and lightning arrestors;
Control systems: the purpose is to monitor, control and protect the power conducting components, the equipments include control panels, current transformers, potential transformers, protective relays and associated circuitry.
