About the Membrane Separation Industry Situation in China

China’s water shortage, environmental protection, new energy development and traditional process technology transformation continue to develop rapidly in the membrane separation industry, making China’s membrane separation industry development in a strategic opportunity period, mainly reflected in the following aspects:

1. Membrane technology is an important measure to solve the problem of water shortage and guarantee China’s water safety.

Insufficient water resources has become an important element restricting the sustainable development of China's economy development. Especially in the coastal areas, insufficient water resources have brought great threats to urban residents' water supply security and industrial & agricultural water security. At present, there are 420 cities in China with different levels of water shortage, and about 110 cities are seriously short of water. According to statistics, the total amount of water shortage in China in normal years is about 40 billion m3. The use of high-tech means to "open source" is an effective way to alleviate the water crisis and improve the ability of water resources. Among them, deep purification of sewage, membrane desalination and brackish water desalination are important measures to improve China's water resources security capacity.

In addition, membrane water treatment technology is an important technology to improve the safety of drinking water. According to statistics, 90% of surface water and groundwater in China are polluted to varying degrees. In some areas, water quality is seriously not up to standard, water supply guarantee rate is low, and serious impact the human body health, using RO and NF as the core of the liquid separation membrane technology, can effectively achieve the purification of contaminated drinking water, is the most effective and economical way to solve drinking water pollution.

2. Membrane technology plays an important role in water environmental protection and atmospheric management

China is a country with severe water shortage, and it is also a country with serious environmental pollution. The pollution is becoming more and more serious, the water pollution treatment technology is backward, the construction of sewage treatment facilities is lagging, and the low recycling rate of water resources is one of the main cause of water shortage in China. The environmental pollution caused by the recycling of industrial waste water and low rate of urban sewage reuse not only seriously restricts the national economic development, but also seriously affects people's lives and health. The use of membrane technology to treat wastewater is important for reducing water environment pollution and mitigating the water crisis.

3. Membrane technology is the key path to achieve traditional process transformation and resource recovery

Membrane technology is a reliable guarantee for traditional process transformation, industrial energy conservation and emission reduction, and clean production. China's process industry itself is not only a large energy consumer, but also a major environmental polluter. The reaction, separation, concentration and purification of its production and processing processes urgently require the transformation of traditional processes to provide industrial manufacturing technology upgrade. Through the integration technology of membrane and other processes, changing the production mode of users in the industrial production process to achieve industrial technology upgrade, and then achieving energy conservation, environmental protection and resource recovery, and achieving environmental protection from end-of-pipe treatment to process prevention, from passive governance to active prevention, from cost management to efficiency management. Solve the recycling and reuse of resources in the industrial production process to create benefits for the national economy.

4. The international market faces unprecedented opportunities

In recent years, domestic microfiltration membranes, ultrafiltration membranes, partial reverse osmosis membranes and gas separation membranes have entered the international market due to the continuous improvement of quality, good performance, low price and timely service etc advantages. Membrane products produced by VONTRON, OriginWater, Tianjin MOTIMO, CANPURE, etc. have been exported to Japan, South Korea, Indonesia, Malaysia, India, Brazil, Russia, Europe and America etc countries.
