2018 International Workshop on Construction and Management of Water Conservancy and Hydropower

Application Guide

Hydraulic energy development plays an important strategic role in ensuring energy supply and emission reduction. Hydropower is an integral part of comprehensive development, management and utilization of water resources. In September 2015, the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development released on the United Nations Sustainable Development Summit proposed 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and 8 of these goals focused on sustainable development of water resources. In addition, the 7th goal clearly stated that “Ensure the affordable, reliable, and sustainable modern energy for all”.

The development of water conservancy and hydropower in China has made remarkable achievements in the world. It not only plays a crucial role in enhancing the level of rural electrification, promoting rural economic development, improving farmers’ working and living conditions, reducing green house gas emission, and responding to disaster emergencies of power system, but also embarks on a new way of ecological civilization construction based on sustainable hydropower development. China is willing to share its mature experience in policy innovation, technologies R&D and industrial development of hydropower. And it is expected that the Chinese Wisdom will provide a new driving force for the sustainable development of water conservancy and hydropower in the world.

Co-organized by UNIDO ICSHP Changsha Hydropower Control Equipment Manufacturing Base, ASEM Water Resources Research and Development Center and other professional organizations, the 2018 International Workshop on Construction Management of Water Conservancy and Hydropower will be held in Changsha, Hunan province, China in October, 2018.
